Over the 20 years of the Gros-Morne wind park's operations, Cartier Wind Energy will pay the municipalities of Saint-Maxime-du-Mont-Louis and Sainte-Madeleine-de-la-Rivière-Madeleine over $5,600,000. These voluntary contributions will be based on the capacity installed in municipal property. Cartier will pay $1000 per megawatt (MW) installed at the time of the park's construction, and will continue to pay the same amount annually over the 20 years of the wind park's operation. These funds may be expended on areas within the municipalities' jurisdiction. Furthermore, Cartier will provide a visibility fund of $58,162 annually to assist local non-profit organizations.
